Scientific research is essential for the dynamic development of biosphere reserves. The Swedish MAB program shall encourage the strengthening of the role of research and sustainable development. Research-based knowledge should within the programme interact with local and experience-based knowledge in the biosphere reserves.
The MAB Programme has the intention to establish a database of scientific research results conducted within the biosphere reserves and biosphere candidate areas. Such knowledge is valuable biosphere reserves collaborations as well as for the Swedish MAB in an international context.
